The municipal term of Puebla Larga limits with the following localities: Carcagente, Énova, Manuel, Rafelguaraf, Saint John of Énova, the Catalan flag and Villanueva of Castellón, all of them of the province of Valencia. |
The municipal term of Puebla Larga borders on the following localities: Carcagente, Énova, Manuel, Rafelguaraf, Saint John of Énova, the Catalan flag and Villanueva of Castellón, all of them of the province of Valencia.
The highest level which the term has is that of Sarratella, with 129 meters on the sea level, place much estimated by all the pobletanos. Although the river Júcar happens very close, it does not go so far as to enter the term. The principal current contributes the Ravine of Barcheta that crosses the north term on south happening across the city center.
His climate is typically Mediterranean, soft and moderate normally without extreme temperatures.
From Valencia, one gains access to this locality across the A-7 taking then the CV 564. Also it is provided with train station of the line of outskirts C-2 of Valencia (RENFE).
Up to the date, there have not taken place archaeological discoveries that could prove the existence of the primitive man, nevertheless, this if that has happened close to the population. The traces that have stayed of the Roman Age are scarce, only the August Route that was following the same tracing as the current regional highway that crosses the city center.
The most ancient denomination that is known of the municipality, is the one that there represents "Llibre del Repartiment" (I free of the Share-out), in which there is quoted the donation of the place of the Puebla of the Ardiaca, dependent on Alcira, to one of the principal gentlemen of the reconquest. This name lasted until the year 1317, date of the arrival of Pere Esplugues, who was an important personage who reconstructed and the population repopulated. For this cause one happened to say That It Populates it of Esplugues, since it belonged to this feudal gentleman. Later, it received the name of the Puebla of Torrermosa, due to the construction of a turret or small castle constructed by Pere Esplugues. This way, then, it keeps on being called Populates it of Esplugues until the XVIth century, in which due to the elongated form of the city center it begun being named "a LongTown", which in a little time it would transform into "Pobla Llarga". During the War of Succession in 1707, it took part for Archduke Carlos, therefore after his opponent Felipe V won, between the different measures that it took against the population, it was to hispanicize the name, by which it happened to be said "IT POPULATES IS GIVEN BY IT".
Based traditionally on the agriculture. In 1798, the first orange tree plantations began in the locality. They must have been scarce, since the whole production was consumed to the same population; but in the year 1829, practically the whole term was devoting itself to this cultivation and it began the stores construction for the manipulation and packed of the orange for the mailing to the domestic and exterior market.

The stew of Holy Week is a plate prepared with vegetables of the garden, boiled eggs and meatballs of cod, all this cooked on slow fire in a mud casserole.
