The municipal term of Albalat of the Bank borders on the localities of Algemesí, Poliñá of Júcar, Sollana and Swede, all of them of the province of Valencia.
Farmhouse of Moslem origin, king Jaime I granted it in 1238 to the bishop of Saragossa. In 1330, the jurisdiction of the term was donated to Gonzalo García, happening in 1442 to the Justice of Alcira. Later, the dominion happened to the family Joffre and to the dukes of Gandía. Finally, it belonged to the Marquesses of Bélgida. In 1855 and 1864 the floods of the Júcar caused big ravages.
The territory is completely flat. The river Júcar crosses the term, of west to this one, which constitutes his southern boundary. The property of the ground is much distributed. The grounds increased his production on having been drained by means of harquebuses, being completely cultivated; for the irrigation there are used waters of the Real Ditch of the Júcar, across the Albalat ditch; for the whole term there scatters multitude of ditches and channels for the ricefields. The town rises in a meander of the left margin of the river Júcar.
